Hello again dear readers. Wishing all of you a healthy, happy and why not — prosperous New Year.
When thinking about your life as a retiree, it is easy to think of a resort-like experience in Bali, hanging out with friends, and "chilling" during your golden years. But too much "effortless" living can lead to aimlessness.
On the other hand a "purposeful" retirement may bring personal significance to your day-to-day life. Waking up each day, driven by your singular focus will put a spring in your step. However, too much of a goal-oriented focus may lead to personal isolation if your passion is not shared with others.
What is the proper balance? And how do we design a retirement community that enables both purposeful as well as effortless living? And when I say "we" I mean between the developer and the residents.
These are some of the challenges we face personally and organizationally.
When it comes to my project for senior living in Bali, Oasia, I really want to enable the community to find the right balance.
Comments are more than welcome.
Thanks,
Neill
Hi Neil: good post and continuing cementing of the concept. One thought: you are positioning your community to be able to be accessed by everyone -- indeed, that has to be one of the main attractions and strong points. I think you should work that 'community access and the strengths that can bring everyone' into your model. Keep the posts coming -- Tom Richards
