As most of you know, we have been looking for land in order to build an affordable community in Bali. And we’ve been focused on keeping your budget to approximately $1,500 USD per month.
We now have over 20 are or about a 1/2 acre to build both apartment-style residences, as well as a few villas.
Note: Land is subject to my notary's legal review of the certificate (title).
Prices will be available in a few months.
Soon we will survey the land, get some drone photos, and hire an architect in order to create a comprehensive site plan.
A majority of the land is forested, and it also slopes to a small river.
With a little TLC (tender loving care) we can clean the place up and then relax while the river flows along.
No man steps in the same river twice. -- Heraclitus
The land is to the left of these cool stairs. Behind is the small river.
Another view of the stairs, this time from above. To the right is the land. Perhaps 2/3 of it is sloping towards to river, so we will most likely make tiered gardens in-between the structures. But more about the landscape design later.
This is the upper portion of the land (to the left of the road). Our initial idea is to build the apartment-style housing up here and then perhaps closer to the river we build 2 or 3 villas, a large swimming pool, a yoga space, a spa, and a restaurant / community kitchen.
For now I’ve created an online community here for the purposes of furthering the actual community. This newsletter will continue as well, but since your questions and comments are connected to each email post and its web counterpart, it is not the best setup for ongoing discussions.
You may have already received an email from the community website when I added all 800+ of you from this newsletter. If not you will be receiving an email from the community website soon. Once you’ve completed the signup procedure (adding a password) then you can ask questions or make comments and they’ll be saved under easily accessible categories such as housing, transportation, health care etc.
For those of you who have no interest in community building in Bali, this newsletter may grow a bit dull. On the other hand if you stick with us, there will always be a welcoming place for you when you visit Bali. And there is a chance that the lessons we learn while building this community may be transferable to where you live.
In any case we will slowly but surely be offering more and more details about this community concept. So get ready to give us feedback. Or even better, get ready to join a very exciting development!
Later,
Neill
