The ups and downs of looking for land is going to take some time. And there will be frustrations, as it seems most available land is off-limits to residential development. There are dedicated tourist zones, but the price of land within the zones is quite high.
But sometimes you come across a place that’s truly inspiring.
Alami Boutique Villas & Resort is such a place. Most impressive was the exteriors, the landscaping, and the unique blend of Balinese and Western architecture. The owner bought the land before many of the green zone provisions were put in place. That translates to low-priced farmer land without restrictions. Those days are gone.
Let’s take a tour:
The entrance has two small waterfalls: the one on the right is just a few meters out of the frame.
The pathways between the buildings are lush and intimate, while the property itself is vast.
The approach to this villa is so inviting, isn’t it?
The villa view from near the pool. To the right is a community building with a billiards table and couches, etc. To the left of the villa is a covered dining area.
The view from under the villa. There’s a staircase to the left, just outside the frame.
A view of the covered dining area.
The roof design reflects a Joglo style, which originated in Java but is widely adopted in Bali. I’m not a huge fan but in this case I think it fits.
The size of this property is massive compared to villas in tourist areas such as Canggu or Seminyak. So living in this area full-time would be a bit challenging. There are always trade-offs though, as having a large property gives one freedoms such as expansive lawns and gardens, dedicated buildings for dining and for play, etc.
And unlike most properties, there’s no exterior walls around the perimeter. In more popular areas that would be impossible, but when you’re in the middle of rice fields and brush, its plenty safe.
As a private investor this property is probably 20X the size I can manage. But additional partners means added possibilities (hint, hint). :)
